Designed by chief engineer Giulio Alfieri, this 1½-litre engine was designed to conform with the Formula 1 regulations of 1961. Delay in perfecting the engine design meant that it wasn't bench-tested until April 1963. With a change in Formula 1 regulations announced for the 1966 season (engine size up to 3000cc), the project was abandoned.
